When Johan Vargr inexplicably shifts to wolf, he was not the only one to feel the shock waves. As a human-Lycan hybrid, transition should never have happened. With the family secret out in the open, Tore, Johan’s father, finds himself spitting out excuses for why he’d never told his youngest son about his heritage.
For Johan, this is the last straw. Tore’s lies and drunkenness have taken their toll. So now Johan does the only thing he can. He runs. Runs from his father who’d made him into this monster. From his brothers who’d kept this secret from him. And from his sister, because he is afraid she will no longer love him.
This Vargr Clan Companion Novella slots in after book two- Hold On. It takes a detour from the main trilogy and explores what happens to Johan over the two years he is away. The author recommends reading this novella between book 2 (Hold On) and book 3 (An Unbreakable Will), or after completing trilogy.
The Splits In My Skin The Vargr Clan Trilogy Book 4 edition by Angela Stevens Literature Fiction eBooks
The Splits in My Skin is an excellent short companion novella to the main Vargr series. This story follows the teenage Johan as he discovers his family's shocking secret. Feeling betrayed by his father and his brothers, Johan sets out on his own. He experiences love and loss on his journey as he struggles to come to terms with his life as a shifter. Angela Stevens is a masterful storyteller and although this story is not as action packed as some of the others in her series, it is a compelling coming of age story and a must read for those who love the rest of the Vargr Clan Trilogy.Product details

The Splits In My Skin The Vargr Clan Trilogy Book 4 edition by Angela Stevens Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Find out what happened to Johan when he ran away!
I was given a copy of Splits In MY Skin by Angela Stevens in exchange for a honest review. I have read Books 1, 2, and 3 in The Vargr Clan Trilogy. You have to read Books 1 & 2 before you read this short story. In book 2 Johan turns into a wolf and then his two brothers and father became wolves. He was furious because they never told him anything about this life. They refused to tell his younger sister so she could be prepared. He ran away and this story tells what he did and what happened during that time. Angela is a master story teller. As she tells her story, Angela brings the reader in and you become part of the story. Her descriptions of the scenes and the characters is so realistic that you can picture what is happening. I loved finding out what Johan did during that time and how he came to accept his wolf and his desire to return to his family, especially his sister.
I am a huge fan of the series and I was so happy when I heard that there would be more stories after the trilogy featuring some of the characters. If you have not read the series yet, please do. This book is best read after book two. If you have already read them all, it is very worth reading. I can't wait for more stories to come.
Johan's time away from the family was a missing piece that I am glad is now available. He was so hurt by his family's secrets that it drove him away from the sister he adores. He had to learn from others what it meant to be a wolf and how to deal with the feelings that were bombarding him.
In this story, we learn about his journey thru the pain and loneliness. He had not resources and it was a difficult life. It is fortunate that he got some support so he could accept better some of the changes.
It is a fabulous story with characters that stay with you. The only disappointment is that the story ends and you have to wait until the next release.
I received a beta copy from the author to review.
I purchased the whole series. I absolutely loved these books.
I'm actually glad I didn't red this in between the others. But...I want more, I want more! Please and thanks!
Johan's father and brothers have kept the family secret from him for years... that is until he transitions into a wolf. Unprepared for what has happened and feeling betrayed by a family who he feels should have told him about his Human-Lycan heritage, Johan runs away.
The Splits in My Skin is the story of what Johan endured and how he survived the two years he was away from his family. I would go more into detail, but I hate it when people give away what happens in a book in the review and I don't want to ruin this book for you. But if you've read The Vargr Clan Series as I have, this is a must read. It kept me captivated from page one till the end. Once started I couldn't put it down. I loved being able to find out what happened to Johan those two years, as he was one of my favorite characters from the series.
I'm hoping Author Angela Stevens soon writes more Companion Novella's to this series. She has quickly become my favorite indie author as I'm sure she will yours also.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novella.
Splits in the Skin ties up any loose ends surrounding Johan between Book Two and `Three in the Vargr series.
We join Johan at age seventeen with his father, brothers and sister Eva in the cabin at Fargo when his Lycan genes are maturing. Totally unprepared for these events by his father Tore - and his brothers Rune and Kjell the boy does not know what is happening to him or what to expect or how to deal with it. He runs away and we follow him through a number of adventures over the next two years when Book Three - an Unbreakable Will carries the story forward. To say any more about the story would likely spoil the twists and turns that it takes for a reader and so I’ll say no more about the plot.
This is Johan’s story of those difficult times written in the author’s punchy and inimitable style to deliver a good read in its own right. This is not just a short volume to fill in any gaps to a reader who might ask ‘whatever happened to Johan?’ Well written, good pace and highly recommended.
It lacks the hard-charging action of the other books about the Vargr clan, but it is engaging nevertheless. It relates how Johan comes to terms with his transition and with his wolf — a transition he should never have been able to have, and consequently the reason his brothers never prepared him for it. As for why his father never mentioned it, well, that is another matter entirely — sort of. But we follow Johan as his hormones and wolf run rampant, taking him on a wild and woolly journey until things finally settle down. It definitely fills a gaping hole in the story and if you’re following the exploits of the Vargrs, it’s definitely a must-read.
